Calgary's oil boom creates growth and job opportunities

GasBuddy Blog -- Calgary's oil boom is bringing unprecedented growth to Alberta and prominently positioning Canada on the main stage of the world's energy superpowers.

Blooomberg News reported last month that the population of Canada's main oil-producing region has soared 37 percent to about 3.7 million in the past decade as companies such as ExxonMobil and Statoil ASA have attracted workers from China, Venezuela and the Phillippines to develop the largest oil reserves outside of the Middle East.

"Most people around the world believe that it has been a fairly parochial jurisdiction," said Alberta Premier, Alison Redford. "We are now going through a generational change in politics and business. We have an ability to embrace the world...

Hey PD - what does the LAND look around there now?

What is the air quality like there now?

You forgot some of these details in your "research".

Calgary's oil boom is bringing unprecedented and irreversible damage to the environment. Thousands of acres of old growth forests have already faced the ax and many Canadian residents are already coming down with all sorts of medical difficulties due to the toxic chemicals used to extract that oil from the earth. Sure, Canadian workers are receiving a pay check but they are putting their lives as well as the future of the planet Earth in significant jeopardy.

The problem is that it is very expensive to extract, so interest will fall quickly if the price of crude falls.

Just because this is happening in Canada and may one day happen in the U.S. doesn't mean the domestic U.S. gasoline prices will come down. The supply always goes to the highest bidder.

Canada is doing the right thing.

Our greenies have the US hamstrung.

Get with it and produce. But before you bother, fix the corrupt commodities market. Make it a REAL market not a playground for speculators. They are fleecing us all and destroying the economy for their selfish profit.

The US will NEVER be a leader in oil production. Anyone who thinks that certainly doesn't know the facts.
