Bigwaynenef and 10k have been watching too much Fox Noise or some other wingnut source. The US has not given away any islands to the Russians. The islands listed by 10k are close to the coast of Siberia and lie on the Russian side of the line in a maritime boundary agreement, ratified by 86 to 6 in the Senate and signed by President Bush in 1990. Alaska’s senators, the late Ted Stevens and Frank Murkowski, both Republicans, voted in favor of ratification. The US has made not claim. This is a non-issue. More info

Great, @10k, now please tell me which naval fleet we should send to those ice cubes in order to defend them?
This is like W.W.II, where the U.S. government sent Marines to the Aleutian Islands because we thought Japan wanted to invade Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

you want names-here are the names:
the following Islands which already have been given Russian names: Bennett Island, now Ostrov Bennetta; Wrangel Island, now Ostrov Vrangelya; Hennrietta Island, now Ostrov Genriyetty. Remaining land give away gems are Herald and Copper Islands and Sea Lion Rock and Sea Otter Rocks.

I'd like to know what plans did the oil drillers put in place to prevent another Deepwater Horizon fiasco?
And for those clamoring for energy independence, how do you intend to make that happen when Big Oil is very content to export all of that new domestically produced oil out of the country?

“Great if it reduces prices.”
Good luck with that. Deep-water drilling is expensive. Note that the increased activity in the Gulf is “due to the high oil prices.” Drilling for oil under difficult and dangerous conditions is unlikely to lead to lower prices.
